Meat and McDonalds

Dad was in town and took me to a fancy steakhouse called Lawry’s. Or as we found out, they only serve ONE type of steak – prime rib!

Here is my meal (thick cut steak and creamed spinach):

A good lookin' hunk of meat!

My dad is a carb addict, there is no stopping him. Here is Dad’s meal (the slimmest cut of meat, bread, yorshire pudding, creamed corn, creamed spinach and mashed potatoes):

More carbs than I eat in several days are on that plate

I only finished about half my steak and Dad, who isn’t much of a meat eater, only ate about 2/3 of his.

NOW I should add that if you eat TOO MUCH PROTEIN IT WILL GET CONVERTED TO GLUCOSE and then act like a carbohydrate! So I obviously went a lil cray cray with the meat on Friday night but hopefully made it up with my bike ride the following day.

So before my ride, I needed food. I will admit that I got the breakfast of champions: An Egg McMuffin sans the Muffin. Been in ketosis for about two weeks now and hoping that I can start seeing some benefits to not needing to eat during longer rides (until after the 2.5 hour mark) and using fat as a fuel. Still got some more work to do in this area (especially quantitatively) but will update when I get in a groove!

4g carbs, 12g protein, 11g fat. But the cheese tastes SO fake and gross :(

Of course, any place that has it's food arrive in this state is probably somewhere I shouldn't be eating
